Freedom Of The Seas Excursions
Freedom of the Seas is the first ship in the Freedom Caribbean class. Freedom Class cruise ships were once the largest cruise ships in the world, and although they no longer hold that title, they are still considered great ships where there is nothing to do.
Vision Of The Seas Excursion
Freedom of the Seas ended in 2006, but was expanded in early 2020 through Royal Caribbean’s Royal Amplified program. Her expansion added many new features to the ship, including water slides and a remodeled pool deck.
Measuring 156,271 gross tons, 1,111 feet long and 185 feet wide, Freedom of the Seas is no small ship. She has a capacity of approximately 4,000 guests with double occupancy, 14 decks accessible to guests and 1,963 staterooms.
The ship has a cruise layout, with walkways on decks 4 and 5 running through the ship, complete with dining, entertainment, bars, staterooms, guest service areas and retail stores. These decks, along with the outdoor space on the pool deck, are usually the main centers of activity on the ship.

Night Bahamas & Perfect Day Cruise
The pool deck has two main pools and several jacuzzis open to guests of all ages (except babies in diapers). Outside of the main pools is Splashaway Bay, a large children’s water park with slides, trash cans, sprinklers, a splash pad and a wading pool.
An adults-only solarium is also located on Freedom of the Seas’ pool deck. The Solarium is open to guests over 16 years of age. Unlike some other ships, the Freedom of the Seas Solarium is not enclosed, so the pool is in direct sunlight. There are plenty of seating areas and jacuzzis in the shade, and pool chairs are covered in a Solarium, which provides an extra comfortable place to relax.
Freedom of the Seas’ pool deck was upgraded to a Caribbean resort design during its 2020 refit. Colorful decor surrounds the pool deck, including poolside lounge chairs perfect for the hottest days.
Part of the design of the Caribbean pool deck was the addition of The Lime & Coconut bar, where guests can enjoy a variety of signature cocktails, including the Strawberry Rita and the Rum Runner. Consisting of 3 decks, Lime & Coconut creates a fun party atmosphere on board.

Casitas are also available on Freedom of the Seas’ pool deck. These are private closed dormitories available for reservation at an additional cost. Outside of the casitas, the pool deck has a variety of seating, from pool chairs to comfortable lounge chairs. Suite guests can also enjoy a private sitting area on deck 12.
If you’re hungry while on the pool deck, be sure to try El Loco Fresh, Royal Caribbean’s Mexican restaurant located near Splashaway Bay. Unlimited and free soft serve ice cream is also available.

Deciding whether to eat at free or special dining locations ultimately depends on your preferences and budget. Many passengers choose to eat only in the complimentary seating and eat most of their meals at El Loco Fresh, the Windjammer or the Main Dining Room. Both locations offer a wide variety of cuisines and rotating menus, so it’s unlikely you’ll get bored of Freedom of the Seas’ complimentary options.

Freedom of the Seas offers a wonderful cruise experience for all ages and interest levels due to the wide range of activities available on board. While there have always been plenty of activities to keep guests busy, the 2020 expansion added several more of Royal Caribbean’s signature activities to enhance the cruise experience.
The Perfect Storm water slides can be found on the Freedom of the Seas sports deck and are a combination of two racing water slides: the Storm and the Typhoon. The slides twist and turn (even go off the side of the boat) and are a popular activity for kids and adults alike.
The sports deck also features a FlowRider, climbing wall and basketball court, and mini golf is located in the front part of the pool deck. On board, guests can enjoy ice skating and Battle for Planet Z Laser Tag. All these signature activities are free for passengers.

If surfing simulators and water slides aren’t your cup of tea, there’s a wide range of other activities on board. Fitness classes, dance lessons, table tennis, scrapbooking, karaoke, outdoor movies, trivia and a casino are sure to make for a fun day at sea.
If you’re traveling with children on Freedom of the Seas, you’ll likely want to enroll them in the Ocean Adventure program, Royal Caribbean’s childcare program for ages 6 months to 17 years.
Freedom of the Seas follows Royal Caribbean’s updated Ocean Adventure program, which aims to give children more freedom and flexibility in choosing activities that interest them. Craft stations, dodgeball, video games, books, science experiments, and more are available for kids throughout the day.

Freedom Of The Seas Accommodations
In addition to indoor seating, juniors also have access to Social 033, a private outdoor space with lounge chairs and a selfie station. Parents can also bring their children to the Play Place, an indoor playground, but since this place is unsupervised, parents must stay with their children at all times.
Adventure Ocean is mostly free, except for AO Babies and childcare after 10pm. The arcade is also located in Adventure Ocean and is open to guests of all ages, although it comes with an additional fee.
There are two main entertainment venues on Freedom of the Seas: The Royal Theater and the Studio B ice rink.
While Freedom of the Seas may not have a Broadway show like the other Freedom Class ships, she still has plenty to enjoy at the Theater Royal. Once Upon a Time, an original Caribbean production, brings the stories of rare legends to the stage through music and dance. Another signature show, Marquee, brings Broadway hits to the stage, from shows like La Cage Aux Folles to choreography by Bob Fosse.

In Studio B, guests can enjoy FreedomIce.com, an ice skating show that features disco music and highlights the importance of freedom throughout time. Projection mapping and set design transforms the ice rink into a 1970s scene as Royal Caribbean’s professional ice dancers leap and spin around the ice.
In addition to the signature production shows, other entertainment can be found on Freedom of the Seas, including live music, karaoke and game shows.
