Albadri Primed for Saudi Derby

Albadri Primed for Saudi Derby

Albadri | Racingfotos.com

Jane Chapple-Hyam’s Albadri (Ire) (Dandy Man Ire) will take part in the $1.5-million Saudi Derby on the $20-million Saudi Cup undercard on Feb. 20. A winner on debut, the bay colt raced exclusively in stakes company in his next four starts, with his best finish a fifth in the G3 Tattersalls S. in September. His final 2020 appearance was a sixth in the G3 Horris Hill S. two starts later on Oct. 24. In his latest run, he handled the Southwell synthetic well and saluted by a length in a handicap there on Jan. 28.
“We might be a 100-1 shot, but we got an invitation so may as well give it a go,” said the Suffolk trainer. “He went on the nearest I could find to dirt in England–which is Southwell. Hollie [Doyle] was pleased with him, and he won.
“He’s going out in really good order, and I’m flying out there tonight [Monday]. It’s very competitive, but every now and again you’ve got to dip your toe in the deep end. It’s not a massive field–and because we got the invite, the owners were keen, so why not?”

She added, “Hopefully we can finish in the prize money–which would help–and he’s come out of his race at Southwell very well, and he went into that needing it. He’ll have been about 85% fit, so he’s bang on song now. We’ve always liked him. I’ve always felt he would make up into a 100-rated horse, so he needs to prove that on Saturday.
“They’ll go quick, with the Americans and Japanese. When he won on debut he came from off the pace, but he made the running last time–so he’s versatile. Hollie rode him in the Horris Hill and got a really good feel off him that day, which is important to me because she believes in the horse. Hollie’s on again.”

NBA betting tips: NBA picks and predictions for the 2020-21 season

NBA betting tips: NBA picks and predictions for the 2020-21 season

Check out the Betway Insider’s NBA picks and predictions page for tips throughout the 2020-21 NBA season.
NBA champions: Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers are the favourites to win the title this season, and for good reason.
The defending champions triumphed in the Orlando bubble in October, beating the Miami Heat 4-2 in the Finals, and they should only improve this season thanks to some strong moves over the past few months.
Having locked up reigning Finals MVP LeBron James and fellow superstar Anthony Davis with contract extensions, Lakers GM Rob Pelinka managed to improve the roster by trading for Dennis Schroder and signing Montrezl Harrell.
The speedy Schroder will fill the Lakers’ biggest void as a playmaker from the point guard position who can also create his own shot, while Harrell is the reigning Sixth Man of the Year and is an upgrade on big men Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee, who both left as free agents.
Marc Gasol and Wes Matthews will also bring veteran experience to a roster that already had plenty of playoff pedigree.
The Lakers should stroll to the top seed in the Western Conference, and it’s hard to bet against James and Davis in the playoffs given how unstoppable they looked in the bubble.
NBA champions (each-way): Denver Nuggets
For an outside bet, the Denver Nuggets reached the Western Conference Finals last season and could certainly go further this time around, particularly if either of the Lakers’ stars suffer an injury.
The Nuggets have one of the league’s emerging stars in Jamal Murray – who was close to unguardable in the playoffs – and one of the best big men in the game in Nikola Jokic.
Youngsters Michael Porter Jr. and Bol Bol could help to take this team to the next level if they fulfil their enormous potential, so they look worth a punt.
Eastern Conference winner (including playoffs): Milwaukee Bucks
Milwaukee held the East’s best regular season record in each of the past two seasons, but were eliminated in the Conference Finals in 2019 and the second round last year.
The Bucks look primed to finally reach the Finals this year, however, having brought in some extra help for franchise cornerstone Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The two-time MVP has been dominant during the regular season, but teams have focused on him defensively in the playoffs and the Bucks’ supporting cast have failed to step up.
This offseason, however, Milwaukee traded for point guard Jrue Holiday, an excellent player at both ends of the court who should fit in nicely with their core of Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez.
Holiday’s elite defence meshes perfectly with the Bucks’ identity as a team – he’s a career 35.4 per cent three-point shooter and can take on some of the ball handling and scoring responsibility when Giannis is off the court.
The Bucks have more continuity than joint-favourites Brooklyn, more stability than Philadelphia and Boston and arguably more talent than the Miami Heat, so they look a good bet to earn the top seed once again and ride their home advantage all the way to the Finals.

Tuesday Betting Guide: Our writers’ 5 best football tips 22 12 20

คู่มือการเดิมพันวันอังคาร: เคล็ดลับฟุตบอล 5 อันดับแรกจากนักเขียนของเรา 12 01 21

Will Rook provides his football tips from Tuesday’s action in the EFL Cup, EFL, La Liga and Serie A.

Brentford to beat Newcastle (17:30)
Brentford are arguably a better team than Newcastle when both sides are at full strength, let alone when Steve Bruce’s side is much-changed from their Premier League XI.
Bruce’s side have only beaten Crystal Palace and West Brom in their last six, and several second-string players will feature here.
The Bees have won five of their last eight games, drawing the other three, and have already knocked out Southampton, West Brom and Fulham to reach this stage.
Under 2.5 goals in Grimsby v Bradford (19:00)
Under 2.5 goals has landed in five of Grimsby’s last six home games, including in all of the last three.
They host a Bradford side that have scored two goals in their last six league away matches.
Both this and the reverse fixture finished 1-1 last season, and a repeat would do the trick for us here.
Doncaster to beat Shrewsbury & under 4.5 goals (19:45)
Doncaster have won four consecutive matches, most recently winning 3-1 at Burton on Saturday.
Rovers have won six, drawn one and lost one of their last eight League One home games.
Shrewsbury have managed a couple of narrow 1-0 wins on the road recently, but are unlikely to take anything off an in-form side.
Cristiano Ronaldo to score and Juventus to beat Fiorentina (19:45)
Ronaldo has scored a brace in three of his last four Juventus matches, all of which Juve won.
This bet has also been a winner in six of the 35-year-old’s last eight appearances overall.
Fiorentina have conceded at least twice at Inter, Roma, Milan and Atalanta this season, and should be turned over again.
BTTS & over 2.5 goals in Real Valladolid v Barcelona (21:00)
Both teams have scored in six of Real Valladolid’s seven home matches this season, including a 3-2 win over Osasuna last time out.
They take on a mediocre Barcelona side that has failed to keep a clean sheet in four league away games.
Ronaldo Koeman’s side have scored and concede in six of their last nine La Liga matches.

Brisbane Heat vs Adelaide Strikers betting tips & predictions 23 12 20

เคล็ดลับและการคาดการณ์การเดิมพันของบริสเบนฮีตปะทะแอดิเลดสไตรเกอร์ส 29 01 21

Here are four cricket betting tips that Adam Drury thinks you should consider for the BBL 10 match between Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers on Wednesday.
Brisbane Heat v Adelaide Striker betting tips & odds:

Adelaide Strikers to win
Brisbane Heat look like the weakest team in the competition, losing both of their opening two matches pretty comfortably.
The Strikers’ batting has let them down recently, but they have still got a win on the board and Phil Salt, Alex Carey and others should come good soon.
Alex Carey to score over 24.5 runs
Carey is a class act, as he proved with a 55 in his first appearance in this competition a week ago.
In all formats, he has passed this mark in four of his last five innings.
Max Bryant to score over 19.5 runs
Bryant has made a solid start at the top of the order for the Heat, scoring 20 and 29.
The 21-year-old has been watchful in each of those innings, scoring at an average strike-rate of 113.95, so should be safe option for a low runs mark.
Daniel Worrall to be Adelaide Strikers’ leading wicket-taker
Worrall has taken at least one wicket in all three of his Strikers’ appearances so far this season, returning some profit in this market with two wickets against the Sixers on Sunday.
As one of the outsiders in this market, and given that he bowls most of his overs at a time of great opportunity for wickets in the opening overs, he is well worth a punt.

Jordan Clarkson drops 40 to lead the Utah Jazz past the Philadelphia 76ers

Jordan Clarkson drops 40 to lead the Utah Jazz past the Philadelphia 76ers

When it was all over, Donovan Mitchell sprinted at Jordan Clarkson, a pair of water bottles in his hand, and doused the Utah Jazz’s sixth man.

That was as close as anyone came to cooling down Clarkson on Monday night at Vivint Arena.

The Jazz guard torched the nets, scoring 40 points to help his team beat the Philadelphia 76ers 134-123.

The Sixers were the best team in the East as of Monday night, but they couldn’t handle the West’s best, as the Jazz (23-5) reeled off their eighth win in a row.

“The biggest thing for me is them believing in me,” Clarkson said. “Letting me be myself and embracing me just plays a role in who I am. That gives me confidence. Those guys always come over to the bench and tell me to keep shooting, even when I’m having an off night, even when I’m hot. They’re telling me to shoot the ball no matter what.”

Donovan Mitchell had 24 points. Joe Ingles scored 20. And three Jazzmen finished with 11 points.

Philly’s Ben Simmons had 42 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists in the loss.

Even with All-Star center Joel Embiid getting a late scratch because of a back issue, the Sixers jumped out to an early lead in Salt Lake City. Philly led 24-10 midway through the opening quarter.

Behind 19 points and five assists from Simmons, the Sixers shot 72.7 percent from the field and scored 22 points in the paint in the period.

“At the beginning of the game, he had too much space in transition,” Jazz head coach Quin Snyder said. “Tonight he attacked the rim early. He felt the game. We had to get back and show him more of a crowd and make it harder for him to see a drive, to deter him.”

The hot hands of Clarkson and Georges Niang kept Utah within arm’s reach. Clarkson went 4-for-5 from deep in the first quarter while Niang went 2-for-2.

“When Jordan came in with the performance he had, we’ve seen that obviously before—but that was another level,” Snyder said. “I thought he kept us in the game.”

The Jazz kept clawing their way back. And when Bogdanovic converted a wild and-one bucket midway through the second, the Jazz had their first lead, a 57-55 advantage.

Despite shooting just 2-for-11 from deep in the second, the Jazz took a 72-66 lead into the locker room at halftime. Clarkson had 19 at the break.

The Jazz’s sixth man stayed hot in the second half. His 13 points in the third helped the Jazz build their first double-digit lead and take a 106-94 advantage into the final quarter.

“He’s not bashful and we don’t want him to be,” Snyder said of Clarkson.

Simmons kept the Sixers close, leading an 10-0 charge in the opening minutes of the fourth.

But Clarkson and the Jazz would not be deterred en route to their 19th win in the last 20 games, answering with big play after big play.

Clarkson scored eight more points in the fourth, finishing just two points shy of his career high.

Royce O’Neale crashed into the scorer’s table during a defensive stand and then sank two clutch 3-pointers. Rudy Gobert denied Dwight Howard at the rim on one end and then rocked his own rim on the other.

“Philly played great,” Snyder said. “It took us making some big plays at the end of the game.”

Monday’s Best

Up Next

The Jazz will hit the road for a pair of games against the L.A. Clippers. Tipoff is set for Wednesday at 8 p.m.

4 NBA storylines to watch during the 2020/21 season

4 NBA storylines to watch during the 2020/21 season

Check out the Betway Insider’s NBA picks and predictions page for tips throughout the 2020-21 NBA season.
Will Harden be traded?
The biggest talking point ahead of the new NBA season has been 2018 MVP James Harden and the ongoing speculation over his future with the Houston Rockets.
The reigning scoring champion has requested a trade, specifying Philadelphia and Brooklyn as his preferred destinations, and, with no signs of a reconciliation in Houston, it seems only a matter of time until one of the league’s biggest stars has a new home.
Whether the 76ers or Nets are willing to give up enough pieces remains to be seen, but the Rockets are reportedly also now listening to offers from teams outside of their star player’s favoured suitors.
Harden is the kind of generational talent that could instantly turn any team into a playoff contender and snaring him would make the Nets or Sixers the clear favourites to win the Eastern Conference.
How will Durant and Irving mesh in Brooklyn?
Speaking of the Nets, they promise to be one of the most intriguing teams to watch this season with or without Harden, as their two superstars prepare to play together for the first time.
Brooklyn signed top free agent Kevin Durant in the summer of 2019 but had to wait an entire season to get him on the court as he recovered from a torn Achilles.
Now, the two-time Finals MVP is back and ready to form arguably the league’s most devastating offensive duo with six-time All-Star Kyrie Irving.
When healthy, Durant is unquestionably a top-five player and, as good as Irving is, this has to be KD’s team if they are going to win a title.
Irving once demanded a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers because he wanted to get out of LeBron James’ shadow and be the top dog on his own team, so whether he’s willing to hand control of the Nets to Durant is a huge question heading into this season.
How far can Curry take the revamped Warriors?
The Warriors looked primed to get back into title contention this season with Curry and Klay Thompson fully healed from injuries that forced them to miss the 2019/20 campaign.
Then Thompson suffered a torn Achilles in a pickup game in November, ruling him out for another full season and doing huge damage to Golden State’s playoff hopes.
Two-time MVP Curry will now lead a roster that looks very different from the one he led to three titles in four years between 2015 and 2018.
With Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre and rookie James Wiseman, Golden State are probably not good enough to win the title but have the pieces to return to the playoffs if Curry is at his best.
Should he power the new-look Warriors all the way to one of the West’s top four seeds, Curry could be back in the MVP discussion once again.
Which ‘bubble’ star will make the biggest leap?
Last season’s Orlando bubble saw some of the league’s most exciting young players take big steps forward in their career.
Devin Booker was on fire as the Phoenix Suns went 8-0 in Orlando, and he’ll now be helped by the offseason addition of point guard Chris Paul.
The Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell averaged 36.6 points per game in the playoffs – the most of any player – and had two 50-point games in a single playoff series against the Denver Nuggets.
And Jamal Murray looked like a bona fide superstar as he took the Nuggets all the way to the Western Conference Finals, scoring 40+ in three consecutive games in the process.
It’s going to be very exciting to see all three compete again this season, and it would be no surprise if at least one is in the MVP race.

Southwest, Bayakoa, Razorback Postponed Again

The Southwest Stakes (G3), Bayakoa Stakes (G3), and Razorback Handicap (G3) have again been postponed with Oaklawn Park cancelling live racing Feb. 18-21 due to the weather forecast.

“Due to continued inclement weather predicted for the remainder of this week, Oaklawn, with the permission of the stewards, will cancel four days of racing this Thursday, Feb. 18 thru Sunday, Feb. 21. All 5 stakes move to the following week. More details will follow,” the Hot Springs, Ark., track tweeted the evening of Feb. 15.

Rescheduled dates for stakes races are expected to be announced Feb. 16, according to Oaklawn spokesperson Jen Hoyt.

The Southwest, a Road to the Kentucky Derby prep race, and the Bayakoa for distaffers were originally scheduled for the Presidents Day card Monday. They were first pushed back to Feb. 20, then Feb. 21, due to winter weather in the extended forecast.

Brad Cox-trained champions Essential Quality and Monomoy Girl were scheduled to make their 2021 debuts in the Southwest and Bayakoa, respectively.

The Razorback, for horses in the handicap division, was originally set for Feb. 13 then pushed back to run on the same card as the Southwest and Bayakoa.

Other stakes affected by the latest cancellation include the Dixie Belle Stakes for sophomore sprint fillies and the Downthedustyroad Stakes for Arkansas-breds. Both races were slated for Saturday.

Joe Ingles passes Pistol Pete Maravich for seventh-most assists in Jazz history

Joe Ingles passes Pistol Pete Maravich for seventh-most assists in Jazz history

Their styles could hardly be more different.

Pistol Pete Maravich was as flashy a ballhandler and passer the game has ever seen, the kind of player you couldn’t take your eyes off for fear you’d miss something spectacular.

Joe Ingles, meanwhile, has heard every joke there is about his countenance on the basketball court and the way his game seems to lull teams to sleep.

In either case, defenders have blinked at their own risk over the years.

With a pass to Rudy Gobert in the first quarter Monday night, Ingles dished out the 1,845th assist of his careering, passing the famed Maravich for the seventh most assists in Jazz history.

“Pistol Pete is such an icon,” Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder said. “He’s one of those players whose photograph you see in the facility or the arena and he clearly had such an impact on the game over a period of years. I know how much Joe respects him.”

Ingles, however, has never been one to focus on personal accolades and records.

“I also know Joe’s really thinking about our team and working on his game,” Snyder said. “Usually when you do that, the results happen. He’s been passing the ball so well. It’s certainly emblematic of the career he’s had here and how unselfish he’s been. I know that’s not something he’s striving for, in and of itself, but certainly it shows what an effective player he’s been and how unselfish he is.”

Ingles’ assists have been spread out over 42 different teammates during his time with the Jazz.

His favorite targets?

  1. Rudy Gobert — 386
  2. Derrick Favors — 276
  3. Donovan Mitchell — 180
  4. Gordon Hayward — 105
  5. Ricky Rubio — 95
  6. Bojan Bogdanovic — 81
  7. Jae Crowder — 76
  8. Royce O’Neale — 65
  9. Dante Exum — 46
  10. Jordan Clarkson — 37

Ingles is averaging 4.7 dimes per game this season, putting him on pace to pass Nos. 5 and 6 on the Jazz all-time list — Jeff Hornacek (1,895) and Andrei Kirilenko (1,919) — before year’s end.

Catching up to John Stockton’s NBA record 15,806 assists would take a little longer than that.
