NYRA Excludes Computer Players from Pick Six Pool

Monday, February 15, 2021 at 11:39 am |
Back to: Shared News Updated: February 15, 2021 at 11:41 am

Bill Finley’s report (Week In Review) in the Feb. 9 edition of TDN on NYRA’s action to restrict wagering on its Pick 5 and Pick 6 wagers by computer-assisted wagering (CAW) players caught my attention, as does any article written on this form of wagering, which I call computer robotic wagering or bots for short.
My experience with the bots and their very smart and well- capitalized owner managers goes back 20 years or so. Then, as now, my opinion on wagering by the bots is that over the long haul, it is destructive to the pari-mutuel business. Bill makes the good points that the bots are pumping millions upon millions into race track pools and that this handle is coveted by tracks. Left unsaid, however, is the very real fact that wagering done via bots is totally reactive to pool money wagered by all other players, whether you call them normal, regulars, casual fans, squares or dumb money.
When the mathematical formulas used by the bots see an imbalance or value in the pools made by other players, this is when the bots craft and place bets to capture the perceived value. Naturally, the most effective time for these types of wagers to be made is as late as possible before pools close and this is why, on a daily basis, straight wagering odds and probable payoffs frequently drop sharply in the last wagering cycle. It cannot be overstated that the daily action of the bots is totally dependent on the other money coming from all other players. If these players wager less for whatever reason, the bots will also reduce proportionately . The life blood of the bots is other peoples’ money and the only growth in bots wagering comes from this money.

Earlier I labeled bots wagering as destructive to pari-mutuel wagering. When the bots win their wagers, the normal or regular players experience reduced payoffs which over time means less money in their pockets and less money to churn. When bots win, that normal churn factor is lost, because again, the bots only wager in proportion to the “other” money in the pools. When they hit in the big Pick 5/6 pools, their winnings or profits likely go into lifestyle purchases or other investments and thus lost for good insofar as pari-mutuel betting.
In the short term, the liquidity provided by bots wagering is enticing to race tracks, but in the long term–and racing today is squarely in the long term–the smaller payouts to other bettors, the tremendous money shift or negative settlements from host tracks and off-track wagering venues to the locations that host the bots means that an untold amount of churn has been and continues to be lost. I would offer that this is a major reason why annual pari-mutuel handle totals in the U.S. have not seen any real growth over these many years.
Finley also referred to the payment of rebates to the computer teams or players. The de facto increase in takeout to all other bettors and inherent unfairness to them is a whole other story that is worthy of further analysis.
So where does racing as a whole go from here? For sure it was easier to accept bots wagering into our pools than it will ever be to effectively control or eliminate it. But at some point in the future, racing operators will be forced to confront this reality. For racing to expend effort to create new fans and bettors is indeed a worthy venture especially for the bots who always need fresh money in their business model.

At the other end, the highest wagers used is up to $20.Winning big is consistently a chance in slots which depend on Megaways and it is a significant motivation behind why these games turned out to be so popular. It is not easy however, since the unpredictability is also on the high side. All things considered, a bonanza of up to 10,000x the stake is onThe RTP is set at 96%.Tyrant King Megaways Slot Features Concerning the Megaways system. It depends on a fixed number of reels, 6 for this case but on a random number of images for every one (2 to 7 during regular spins). This permits up to 117,649 different ways to win during your regular spins. After a combination forms, cascading reels will trigger, eliminating winning images and adding others in. This can prompt more wins and cascades.Get at least 4 wilds to show up in one spin and the Respins feature triggers. Another feature will include an expanding multiplier, going up by 1x after each new cascade.Theme and Design We are going back to the period when the dinosaurs roamed and controlled this planet. The T-Rex will be the star, as a wild while Dinosaur Eggs are represent scatters. Standard images include an unlikely picture of an Adventurer, a Cavewoman, three kinds of dinosaurs and the 10 to A Royals. It is a mix of prehistoric and modern at that point, which reminds me of Jurassic Park because you can’t get such a thing elsewhere.ConclusionTyrant King Megaways looks engaging, giving us some new features to try out, along with the ones we already knew and enjoyed. Top wins of 10,000x the stake are not extraordinary in a Megaways slot but rather they look great all things being equal.

Jordan Clarkson erupted for 40 points off the bench as the Utah Jazz overpowered the Philadelphia 76ers 134-123 in the NBA’s clash of the conference leaders on Monday.
Clarkson produced a dazzling display of long-range shooting, making eight of 13 attempts from beyond the arc as Utah overturned an early double-digit deficit to score a convincing win at Salt Lake City’s Vivint Arena.

Utah talisman Donovan Mitchell finished with 24 points while Australian veteran Joe Ingles delivered 20.
Sixers star Ben Simmons saw a record-breaking 42-point display — the highest ever tally by an Australian player in an NBA game — end in defeat.
Simmons was in superb shooting form, making 12-of-13 free throws while supplying 12 assists. Team-mate Tobias Harris had 36 points with 10 rebounds.
But the night belonged to Clarkson, whose high-scoring cameo saw the Jazz stretch their lead at the top of the Western Conference to 23-5, and extended the team’s unbeaten streak to eight games.

“It feels good,” Clarkson said. “The biggest thing is we just got another win. We’re trying to keep it going, trying to keep getting better every time we step on the floor. That’s what it’s about at the end of the day.”
Philadelphia, who lead the Eastern Conference at 18-10, got off to a fast start, with Harris’s floating jump shot putting the visitors 14 points clear at 24-10 midway through the first.
Utah gradually chipped away at the lead, however, with Ingles cutting the deficit to just seven points at the end of the first quarter.
The Australian then got Utah to within one with a three-pointer early in the second period to make it 46-45.
Utah finally moved into the lead just before half-time, turning around six points clear at the break.
Another Mitchell three-pointer put Utah 86-74 ahead in the third quarter, and they maintained a 12-point lead heading into the final period with the score at 106-94.
Clarkson brought up his 40-point tally with a three-pointer to put Utah 121-112 ahead before the hosts closed out a decisive win.

Brisbane Heat vs Adelaide Strikers betting tips & predictions 23 12 20

เคล็ดลับและการคาดการณ์การเดิมพันของบริสเบนฮีตปะทะแอดิเลดสไตรเกอร์ส 29 01 21

Here are four cricket betting tips that Adam Drury thinks you should consider for the BBL 10 match between Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers on Wednesday.
Brisbane Heat v Adelaide Striker betting tips & odds:

Adelaide Strikers to win
Brisbane Heat look like the weakest team in the competition, losing both of their opening two matches pretty comfortably.
The Strikers’ batting has let them down recently, but they have still got a win on the board and Phil Salt, Alex Carey and others should come good soon.
Alex Carey to score over 24.5 runs
Carey is a class act, as he proved with a 55 in his first appearance in this competition a week ago.
In all formats, he has passed this mark in four of his last five innings.
Max Bryant to score over 19.5 runs
Bryant has made a solid start at the top of the order for the Heat, scoring 20 and 29.
The 21-year-old has been watchful in each of those innings, scoring at an average strike-rate of 113.95, so should be safe option for a low runs mark.
Daniel Worrall to be Adelaide Strikers’ leading wicket-taker
Worrall has taken at least one wicket in all three of his Strikers’ appearances so far this season, returning some profit in this market with two wickets against the Sixers on Sunday.
As one of the outsiders in this market, and given that he bowls most of his overs at a time of great opportunity for wickets in the opening overs, he is well worth a punt.

Pearl Legend Hold and Win Slot Review

Pearl Legend Hold and Win Slot Review

Pearl Legend: Hold and Win is a new release which is coming from iSoftBet, a slot machine with a Chinese concentration and utilizing a lot of the designs that are normal for their games. Some of the features included will be familiar to you, as the Hold and Win a part of the title suggests there are a few things which are unique also. You are playing on 5×3 reels with 20 paylines being used each round. Pearl Legend: Hold and Win can deliver top wins of 1,250x the stake but its standard mixes offer maximum of 500x. It has a 96% RTP, while for its huge features there will be Wilds, Pearl scatters, the Pearl Legend Respins, Reel Boosters and regular game modifiers.Betting and Prizes 20 coins are being used and you simply pick their value, in a range of $0.01 to $1. The wagering range coming from this will go from $0.20 to $20.Wins of up to 1,250x the stake can be paid during Respins, which implies that you could leave with $25,000 cash, by utilizing the most extreme wager of $20. Standard wins of up to 500x the stake per spin are delivered during gameplay, utilizing mixes made out of Gold Dragons.A 96% RTP reveals to us that the amount getting back into the pockets of its players is about the same in other slot games.Pearl Legend: Hold and Win Slot Features Anytime you see the Yin Yang image on the reels, it will be joined by the Wild logo, so it will be the substitute which you can use to place along with standard images and get new wins. You can’t have it do likewise for the scatter but that is a standard limitation. There are a few game modifiers which you may use during paid spins. Red Gems will give you 3 to 5 wilds on the reels. Blue Gems will change images into Pearl scatters. There is likewise a Dragon sculpture, which will change Royals to high value images. The Pearls are your scatters and landing at least 5 out of a single spin will take you to the Pearl Legend Respins reward. Both the setting off Pearls and any new ones that go along, will get sticky on the reels. You start with 3 respins but you reset the number on the off chance that you get extra Pearls before the rounds are totally consumed.Pearls may appear during Respins and they can bring certain Boosters, given that you get three that match.Blue Gems: will open up to three extra rows (Reels Boosted).Green Gems: give the Pearl prizes a boost (Values Boosted).Red Gems: gives you 1 extra respin (Spins+ Boosted).Purple Gems: the multiplier goes up as high as 10x (Multiplier Boosted).Theme and Design As far as Chinese themes go, the one from Pearl Legend looks standard. The six images we see are basic in such games, as we’re taking a look at Yin Yang signs for the wilds, a Pearl as scatter alongside premium images with the Dragon, Phoenix Bird, 3 Gold Coins, Frog. The other four base paying images are the ones showing Royals. With everything taken into account, it’s a standard look for such slots. The activity seems, by all accounts, to be put placed in a temple, where we see on the left side a living Dragon holding a pearl in its claws.ConclusionPearl Legend: Hold and Win is definitely not a terrible slot machine, especially as they changed a few things about its major feature, they didn’t just clone the same reward game that every other person is using lately.

Jordan Clarkson drops 40 to lead the Utah Jazz past the Philadelphia 76ers

Jordan Clarkson drops 40 to lead the Utah Jazz past the Philadelphia 76ers

When it was all over, Donovan Mitchell sprinted at Jordan Clarkson, a pair of water bottles in his hand, and doused the Utah Jazz’s sixth man.

That was as close as anyone came to cooling down Clarkson on Monday night at Vivint Arena.

The Jazz guard torched the nets, scoring 40 points to help his team beat the Philadelphia 76ers 134-123.

The Sixers were the best team in the East as of Monday night, but they couldn’t handle the West’s best, as the Jazz (23-5) reeled off their eighth win in a row.

“The biggest thing for me is them believing in me,” Clarkson said. “Letting me be myself and embracing me just plays a role in who I am. That gives me confidence. Those guys always come over to the bench and tell me to keep shooting, even when I’m having an off night, even when I’m hot. They’re telling me to shoot the ball no matter what.”

Donovan Mitchell had 24 points. Joe Ingles scored 20. And three Jazzmen finished with 11 points.

Philly’s Ben Simmons had 42 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists in the loss.

Even with All-Star center Joel Embiid getting a late scratch because of a back issue, the Sixers jumped out to an early lead in Salt Lake City. Philly led 24-10 midway through the opening quarter.

Behind 19 points and five assists from Simmons, the Sixers shot 72.7 percent from the field and scored 22 points in the paint in the period.

“At the beginning of the game, he had too much space in transition,” Jazz head coach Quin Snyder said. “Tonight he attacked the rim early. He felt the game. We had to get back and show him more of a crowd and make it harder for him to see a drive, to deter him.”

The hot hands of Clarkson and Georges Niang kept Utah within arm’s reach. Clarkson went 4-for-5 from deep in the first quarter while Niang went 2-for-2.

“When Jordan came in with the performance he had, we’ve seen that obviously before—but that was another level,” Snyder said. “I thought he kept us in the game.”

The Jazz kept clawing their way back. And when Bogdanovic converted a wild and-one bucket midway through the second, the Jazz had their first lead, a 57-55 advantage.

Despite shooting just 2-for-11 from deep in the second, the Jazz took a 72-66 lead into the locker room at halftime. Clarkson had 19 at the break.

The Jazz’s sixth man stayed hot in the second half. His 13 points in the third helped the Jazz build their first double-digit lead and take a 106-94 advantage into the final quarter.

“He’s not bashful and we don’t want him to be,” Snyder said of Clarkson.

Simmons kept the Sixers close, leading an 10-0 charge in the opening minutes of the fourth.

But Clarkson and the Jazz would not be deterred en route to their 19th win in the last 20 games, answering with big play after big play.

Clarkson scored eight more points in the fourth, finishing just two points shy of his career high.

Royce O’Neale crashed into the scorer’s table during a defensive stand and then sank two clutch 3-pointers. Rudy Gobert denied Dwight Howard at the rim on one end and then rocked his own rim on the other.

“Philly played great,” Snyder said. “It took us making some big plays at the end of the game.”

Monday’s Best

Arqana Jump Starts The Season With €250,000 Hurdler

Arqana Jump Starts The Season With €250,000 Hurdler

Arqana has an advantage over its counterparts in Britain and Ireland in so far as the company is able to stage a live sale in Deauville this week, with some encouraging returns posted from the first of two sessions of the February Sale on Monday.
Two six-figure lots were at the head of the action, and trade was fairly lively throughout, with the average being boosted by 22% to €13,669, while turnover was also up, by 23%, at €1,654,000 thanks to a much improved clearance rate of 77.5%. From a smaller offering of 156 for the day, 121 horses were sold at a median price of €6,500, up from €5,000 last year.
The colours of British National Hunt owner Robert Waley-Cohen have been carried with great success by some notable French-breds in recent years, including the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Long Run (Fr) (Cadoudal Fr) and Topham Chase victrix Liberthine (Fr) (Chamberlin Fr). The latest acquisition by the owner of Warwickshire’s Upton Viva Stud was the leading light of day one, the AQPS gelding Hardi Du Mesnil (Fr) (Masterstroke). At €250,000, the 4-year-old half-brother to Gaillard Du Mesnil (Fr) (Saint Des Saints Fr), recent winner of a Grade 1 novices’ hurdle during the Dublin Racing Festival, had several pursuers, but it was David Powell who lasted longest on Waley-Cohen’s behalf.

He said, “He is a horse who deserves a bit of a battle. We are going to let him have a break for a while to strengthen up.”
Hardi Du Mesnil (lot 60) has to date won once on the Flat and, most recently, over hurdles at Pau in January for trainer Matthieu Palussiere.
The 7-year-old race mare Lady Paname (Fr) (Soldier Of Fortune Ire) was the day’s other six-figure lot, fetching a bid of €120,000 from Sebastien Desmontils of Chauvigny Global Equine standing alongside Pierric Rouxel of Haras de Maulepaire.
Having started her racing career in France under the care of Elie Lellouche, for whom she won and was placed in the G2 Qatar Prix Chaudenay and G3 Prix de Royaumont, Lady Paname was sold to race in America, where she won Grade 3 contests at Belmont and Aqueduct. Sold as lot 160 by La Motteraye Consignment, she is out of the dual winner Business Class (GB) (Aussie Rules GB). Her future will now be as a National Hunt broodmare, with Haras de Montaigu’s popular young stallion No Risk At All (Fr) slated to be her first partner.
“We bought her for a partnership between Ecurie Drost and Ecurie Tygaly,” explained Rouxel. “We’re delighted; she’s a mare we’ve been coveting for a while, and we love her very much. She’s going to be a broodmare and we will definitely be sending her to No Risk At All.”
A relatively new name on the breeding front, Austrian-based Sage Stud, made a well-credentialed signing through Chris Richner. The agent went to €85,000 for listed winner Oh Beautiful (Ire), a daughter of Galileo (Ire) in foal to Shalaa (Ire).
The 12-year-old mare (lot 148) has produced two winners from her three foals to race and is out of a half-sister to the storied race mare and producer Cassandra Go (Ire) (Indian Ridge Ire), whose talented dynasty includes the Group 1 winners Halfway To Heaven (Ire) (Pivotal GB) and Magical (Ire) (Galileo Ire).
“The owners have been in the business for over 30 years and recently bought Sage Stud and completely renovated it,” said Richner. “This is the third year that they have come to Arqana Sales to find quality mares.”
The progressive young steeplechaser Laskalin (Fr) (Martaline GB) was only added to the sale as a wildcard last week as lot 70 and he too found favour with a British-based owner, having being bought through agent Guy Petit for €77,000.
“After a rest, he will head to England to join the stable of Venetia Williams,” explained the agent. “He is no longer a novice but he has the ideal profile to deal with big handicaps. We are very pleased to have bought him.”
The 6-year-old, a full-brother to fellow black-type-winning jumper Laskaline (Fr), recently won the listed Prix Bernard de Dufau over fences at Pau for trainer Mikaël Mescam.
The final session of Arqana’s February Sale begins on Tuesday at 10am.

4 NBA storylines to watch during the 2020/21 season

4 NBA storylines to watch during the 2020/21 season

Check out the Betway Insider’s NBA picks and predictions page for tips throughout the 2020-21 NBA season.
Will Harden be traded?
The biggest talking point ahead of the new NBA season has been 2018 MVP James Harden and the ongoing speculation over his future with the Houston Rockets.
The reigning scoring champion has requested a trade, specifying Philadelphia and Brooklyn as his preferred destinations, and, with no signs of a reconciliation in Houston, it seems only a matter of time until one of the league’s biggest stars has a new home.
Whether the 76ers or Nets are willing to give up enough pieces remains to be seen, but the Rockets are reportedly also now listening to offers from teams outside of their star player’s favoured suitors.
Harden is the kind of generational talent that could instantly turn any team into a playoff contender and snaring him would make the Nets or Sixers the clear favourites to win the Eastern Conference.
How will Durant and Irving mesh in Brooklyn?
Speaking of the Nets, they promise to be one of the most intriguing teams to watch this season with or without Harden, as their two superstars prepare to play together for the first time.
Brooklyn signed top free agent Kevin Durant in the summer of 2019 but had to wait an entire season to get him on the court as he recovered from a torn Achilles.
Now, the two-time Finals MVP is back and ready to form arguably the league’s most devastating offensive duo with six-time All-Star Kyrie Irving.
When healthy, Durant is unquestionably a top-five player and, as good as Irving is, this has to be KD’s team if they are going to win a title.
Irving once demanded a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers because he wanted to get out of LeBron James’ shadow and be the top dog on his own team, so whether he’s willing to hand control of the Nets to Durant is a huge question heading into this season.
How far can Curry take the revamped Warriors?
The Warriors looked primed to get back into title contention this season with Curry and Klay Thompson fully healed from injuries that forced them to miss the 2019/20 campaign.
Then Thompson suffered a torn Achilles in a pickup game in November, ruling him out for another full season and doing huge damage to Golden State’s playoff hopes.
Two-time MVP Curry will now lead a roster that looks very different from the one he led to three titles in four years between 2015 and 2018.
With Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre and rookie James Wiseman, Golden State are probably not good enough to win the title but have the pieces to return to the playoffs if Curry is at his best.
Should he power the new-look Warriors all the way to one of the West’s top four seeds, Curry could be back in the MVP discussion once again.
Which ‘bubble’ star will make the biggest leap?
Last season’s Orlando bubble saw some of the league’s most exciting young players take big steps forward in their career.
Devin Booker was on fire as the Phoenix Suns went 8-0 in Orlando, and he’ll now be helped by the offseason addition of point guard Chris Paul.
The Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell averaged 36.6 points per game in the playoffs – the most of any player – and had two 50-point games in a single playoff series against the Denver Nuggets.
And Jamal Murray looked like a bona fide superstar as he took the Nuggets all the way to the Western Conference Finals, scoring 40+ in three consecutive games in the process.
It’s going to be very exciting to see all three compete again this season, and it would be no surprise if at least one is in the MVP race.

Rescheduled dates for stakes races are expected to be announced Feb. 16, according to Oaklawn spokesperson Jen Hoyt.

The Southwest, a Road to the Kentucky Derby prep race, and the Bayakoa for distaffers were originally scheduled for the Presidents Day card Monday. They were first pushed back to Feb. 20, then Feb. 21, due to winter weather in the extended forecast.

Brad Cox-trained champions Essential Quality and Monomoy Girl were scheduled to make their 2021 debuts in the Southwest and Bayakoa, respectively.

The Razorback, for horses in the handicap division, was originally set for Feb. 13 then pushed back to run on the same card as the Southwest and Bayakoa.

Other stakes affected by the latest cancellation include the Dixie Belle Stakes for sophomore sprint fillies and the Downthedustyroad Stakes for Arkansas-breds. Both races were slated for Saturday.
